This is your chance to meet with your local State Representative and/or State Senator at their office in Sacramento. Contact us at info@fpaca.org if you’re interested in being a part of our Advocacy effort.
Advocacy Day is our largest and most attended advocacy event of the year. Participation from FPA members has more than doubled in recent years from 14 in 2014 to 38 members in 2018, and we anticipate even more attendance this year. As a coalition, we continue to build lasting relationships at all levels of government including members from the office of the Department of Business Oversite, Insurance Commissioner, State Treasurer and State Controller.

Why should you get involved in advocacy? Like anything else in your life or business, RELATIONSHIPS matter, and these meetings build strong partnerships with elected officials and their staff. When issues arise (as they have and will continue), we are more effective in influencing the outcome when we already have those relationships in place.
We meet up at the Embassy Suites near the Capitol and Riverwalk for a hosted breakfast and orientation at 7:00am. Then we head to the Capitol to visit with our State Senators and/or Assembly Members.
Are you new to Advocacy? Not to worry, we usually send 2 to 3 members to each legislator office to meet in a tag team approach. You will have a team to support you.
We offer FINANCIAL SUPPORT. The FPA of California is committed to helping our members engage in Advocacy Day on behalf of the Financial Planning Association. While we are asking you to take a day off work and volunteer your time, we are pleased to be able to defer some of the travel and hotel costs (available to the first 45 members who register to join us in Sacramento.) For specifics on the financial support available this year, please speak to your chapter Director of Advocacy.
To help us secure an appointment with your representative, REGISTER before the February 22 deadline. We need to know your representatives and contact person when you register. To find out who they are, here is a link to find your California elected official based on your district of residence (once on their website, click on the Contact Us tab). We will need several weeks to arrange and coordinate all meetings for all attendees.
